Internet Marketing Basics That Will Ensure That You Get Things Right From The Start!

Website Creation

We can’t talk about internet marketing basics without talking about website creation. Nowadays, it is imperative to have your own website.

Of course you could still build an online business by simply using a squeeze page and an autoresponder.

In this case all you would have to do is to send informative content to your subscribers and recommend products and services that they want and need.

Obviously I’ve really summarized things here, but that’s the gist of things. There are many internet marketing ‘gurus’ who successfully use this model.

But when starting out, I would still recommend that you have your own website as well. It allows you to reach more potential customers with way less effort.

You will need to put in a lot more effort to reach your target market if all you have is a squeeze page and an autoresponder.

What do I mean? Well, if you have a website that provides a lot of information, you will get a substantial amount of website visitors from the search engines.

This is especially so if you use search engine optimization (SEO) strategies.

The search engines will send you website visitors for free because you are providing the information people are searching for. Remember, YOUR information keeps search engines in business!

Publishing valuable information on your website will also make it easy for others to see the awesome content you provide. This way, other people will approach you to ask if they can use some of your information on their websites.

When this happens, the people who visit those other websites will see your content and visit your website too. The amount of prospects you can get to your website using this strategy can be staggering.

So there's a lot of good that can come out of starting with  internet marketing basics like website creation.

Just incase you are wondering how people will know that the content is from your website, you will include a link back to your site at the end of your content.

To add even more power to your marketing efforts, include a link to your squeeze page on every article that gets featured on another website.

This way, you can make a ridiculously wonderful offer to your squeeze page visitors to persuade them to join your email list. And once they are on your list, you do not need to spend advertising dollars to communicate with them.

Another reason why having your own website is a great idea is that it enables you to have more ways to make money online.

So, for example, you could sell advertising space, or write paid product reviews for other people or join money making programs like Google adsense.

Those are just a few of the advantages of having a website.

Moving on.

In order to have an up and running website, you will begin by choosing a domain name. Your domain name must be one that allows people to know what your website is about before they even arrive at it.

If, for example, your website is about fishing, then www.funfishing.com might be a great name. Though I suspect someone has already grabbed that domain name.

Once you choose a domain name that is available, you’ll have to register it and pay a yearly fee. You can often save some money by registering it for an extended period of time like for 2 or more years.

Next, you’ll choose a hosting package. Your website must “live” somewhere and this is called hosting. Here, you’ll pay a company that will provide you the space you’ll need to house your website.

Free hosting is available, but it’s very unadvisable to use it. It will make it difficult for you to effectively and smoothly run your internet marketing business.

You will face several technical problems and probably won’t have any customer support when you need it. You really do get what you pay for.

So I recommend you use a paid hosting service like Hostgator or Solo Build It. I use Solo Build It simply because it offers me more value for money than any other hosting service on the internet.

And considering the fact that your hosting service houses your website, hosting is one of the internet marketing basics you just have to get right. Any wrong move here and you are setting yourself up for failure before you even get started.

After you choose a domain name and hosting, you’re ready to begin building your website.

The first thing you need to do is to consider the content that will go on your site. What topics will your various website pages be about?

Each page will be unique and contain keywords and keyword phrases your customers are most likely to use when searching for a business like yours.

Research this before writing your content. You can use one of the 2 keyword tools mentioned above for this. But, if you plan on using Solo Build It as your host then you can use their tool. It is integrated with the Word Tracker tool.

Next, you need to decide who will build and maintain your website. As before, if you chose Solo Build It as your host then you can use their software to build your website.

It’s a point and click software that makes it easy for the most technically challenged person on the planet to build a profitable website.

You can also use credible free software like Wordpress. They have many templates that you can use to quickly create a website. If you are more advanced, you can even use other website creation software like dream weaver.

If you don’t want to build a site yourself, you can always hire someone else to do it for you. Choose a person who is experienced and can create a site that is easy to use and will help sell your products.

You can find such website designers at the Warrior Forum. But just make sure you ask for references and examples of their previous work.
