Advanced Internet Marketing Technique #4 - Follow Up Marketing
The next advanced internet marketing technique we will look at is follow up email marketing.
Once you have a built a list with a reasonable amount of people on it, one of the most profitable things you can do is to use follow up email marketing.
As the name suggests, this internet marketing technique involves sending follow up emails to your list members in order to achieve a specific result.
Now, there are various results that you could want to achieve using follow up marketing. Let’s look at five of them.
The first thing you can use follow up marketing for is to sell more of your products and services. It is now a proven fact that more people will buy from you if you remind them to buy.
In other words, *people need you to follow up with them*.
For example, imagine you're selling a course on how to play a Spanish guitar. You will make many more sales if you follow up with those members of your list who did not buy from you after your first offer to them.
But exactly how would you do this? Well, you could create 24 different short email messages about the benefits of learning how to play a Spanish guitar.
Each message would give one unique great reason why your list members would love to learn how to play a Spanish guitar.
You could then use your autoresponder to automatically send those messages over a period of time, say 48 days. This way, you would have 24 chances to convince a prospect to buy your course rather than just a one “all or nothing” chance.
Believe it or not, some people will only buy from you after reminding them 5 times. Others will only buy after your 20th message.
So using follow up email marketing to sell your products is a really profitable advanced internet marketing technique.
Using follow up email marketing does not only work because you are reminding your prospects to buy. It also works because you are giving them several different reasons why they should buy from you.
For example, one prospect might buy because of your reason in email 3 while another might buy because of the reason you’ve given in email 10. That’s the power of follow up.
Another way to use follow up marketing is to provide excellent customer service. This is one of the most profitable things you can do for your online business. Here’s why.
After someone buys a product, they usually need some help and support in order for them to get maximum benefits from their purchase.
Many products nowadays are complex and leave customers a little confused. And as the saying goes, if you confuse them, you lose them.
In other words, when customers get confused, many of them just return the product and ask for a refund. I’ve done that with software that I couldn’t use, especially when there was no support team to help me out.
How does follow up come in? Well, after your customers buy from you, you could create a series of follow up emails to educate them on how to get the most out of your product.
If your product is even just slightly complex, this would help a lot of customers.
You, in turn, would keep more of the money you made and so increase the overall profitableness of your online business. So use follow up email marketing to provide excellent customer service.
The third way to use follow up email marketing is to get feedback from your buyers. This advanced internet marketing technique is really under utilised. The reason for this seems to be that we all like to think we know what other people want.
Yet the humbling truth is we rarely do. So when people buy your product, you could ask them what they thought of it. You could ask them what else they would like to see your product offer.
If you encourage them to be brutally honest, you could really gain some very valuable insight as to how to improve your online business.
Fourthly, you could also use follow up marketing to survey your prospects to find out what they want before you create a product to sell to them. This technique can also work if you are an affiliate marketer.
Once you find out what your prospects want, you could then create it or find someone who has it and promote it as their affiliate.
Using follow up this way would provide you with some very valuable market research, the sort of research that you would have to pay an arm and a leg for if you did not have a list.
And when you sell what your prospects definitely want, you can expect to do very well indeed!
Last but not least, you can use follow up marketing to find joint venture partners on your list. If used properly, this advanced internet marketing technique can help you dramatically increase your profits.
Your list is a very valuable asset indeed. It's valuable not just because it's full of prospects who you can market your products to over and over again.
It's also valuable because many of your list members probably have their own lists. This means that you could offer to sell your products to their lists (but remember target marketing) and to give them 50% of the profits.
It's very easy to make such deals with your list members and they could potentially be very profitable.
So how does follow up marketing come into play here? Well, after your list members have been on your list for a period of time, you could track those who have bought your products or services.
You could then send them a follow up email asking them if they found your products or services helpful and if they would like to make them available to their list members as well.
If they found your products/services helpful, they will probably want to make them available to their list members as a way of providing them with high value. And that will create a win win win situation. You, your joint venture partner, and her list all win!
So those are five ways you can use follow up marketing to take your internet marketing business to the next level.
The beautiful thing is that you don’t even have to remember to send follow up emails manually. You can simply use an autoresponder to automatically send follow up emails over a specific period of time, at the rate you want them sent.
That’s automated follow up marketing and it’s a wonderful thing indeed!
